On the day of the lactate threshold and Vo2 max test, I was recovering from feeling a bit 'coldy' and tired after the previous weekend of racing.

The lactate threshold test was first. It was on a bicycle and the resistance went-up after every three minutes. I felt quite comfortable and my legs felt strong until about fifteen had passed!

I began to feel the lactate acid creep into my quads. I managed to keep quite a reasonable cadence, until I reached my lactate threshold. Then, I started to really tire and feel my lungs working hard.

I finished and had a break before attention turned to the Vo2 max test.

The Vo2 max test is a constant and consistent ramping-up in resistance on the bike. I got into a similar cadence pattern as I did in the previous test and tried to relax and keep my legs turning as it got much harder. I was coming to the limit. My legs were heavy and there wasn’t much left - I felt like, I could have gone on a tiny bit longer if I was on a treadmill.
