I went to my first pole class in October 2021 and found it incredibly challenging and rewarding. It’s a sport and art form. It requires, not only a lot of strength and flexibility, but grace and musicality if you want to incorporate dance and flow into movement combinations.

Training for pole has given me a lot of confidence and has increased my motivation to seek-out cross-training such as: running; mobility; flexibility training; and weightlifting. All of which, which, in-turn, has improved my ability on the pole.

Pole dance isn’t for the faint hearted! It’s a tough sport and can cause a lot of bruises and frustration. It’s very hard to lift your whole body off of the ground while contorting it on a singular 45 mm pole - sometimes in 8 inch heels, if you’re doing choreography!

I’ve never been interested in much sport throughout my life, but, training for pole is incredibly rewarding and because there is so many styles of pole dance I’m never bored!

Contrary to public perception, it is actually a sport for all body shapes, and can be a very body-positive activity.

I’ve been working with
Vorsprung, over the past few years, to improve strength and mobility.
